Par for the course in the Ownd decision making process, we decided last minute to do Magic this year. It has been great, both for the expansion of our brand and for making great new contacts and great friends.
Ahhh Las Vegas…. home of huge hotels that look like castles, pyramids, and relatively nearby cities for no reason and…
Carrot Top. Realllllly… I cant believe this dude is still so popular …apparently hes worth 75million and still looks like a 14year old boy on steriods… who knew.
If your going to enter the world of apparel, or send any type of garment to overseas… you should probably know how to sew, or at least know your way around the machine. It is so important to know the processes involved with garment construction, especially if your going to ask someone else to make your stuff.
If your just getting started you dont need a million dollar machine with computer screens and 200 stitching variations. I have seen so many fashion students run out and buy these crazy ass machines and never use any of the features they pay for. All you need is reliable and accurate.
I nabbed this old portable industrial toyota machine from a sail shop a few years back. This will easily sew through 4 or 5 fold of heavy denim, leather and your hand.
For lighter work, a cheap machine with a good foot setup and tensioner system is all you need. You can easily find an older singer in good shape for $60-$100 on craigslist. One of the most important things people never do is oil these machines. Another tip is to always ask to run the machine before you spend your hard earned cash…if it sounds like its running on hopes and dreams, it probably is.
So its official (sorta) Im starting a weekly (hopefully) segment to showcase some of the artists who inspire us here at Ownd. Music is and has been a huge influence in our lives growing up. Music has helped bring us to where we are in life, inspire us to be great, remember special moments, and give us strength to push through the darker days.
This is one of my favorite artists of all time, P.O.S. So check it out… Go grab this dude’s CD or download it, help support REAL music.
